In December some of the members of the WI in our community came to visit Class 3. We have been talking about what Christmas means to us. We wanted to explore what Christmas means to them as Christians. They very kindly brought us a wonderful gift which they had knitted for our school: Mary, Joseph and a complete Nativity scene.
We talked to them about how the Nativity reflects our Christian value of Love at this time of year.
We studied Divali, and as part of this, we held a Divali morning. All the children and staff came in on that morning in Divali celebration dress. We took part in exciting cooking and craft activities and experienced what it would be like to be a Hindu celebrating Divali.
We created mixed media artwork inspired by Japanese artist Hokusai, which was displayed in St Mary’s Church for the Great Bedwyn Art Festival.
We went to Forest School for the day. In spite of the rain, we had a brilliant time making dens, modelling clay, role playing and discovering more about the animals who live in the forest.
